Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) formerly the School of Medicine is celebrating 100 years (1924 - 2024) of health professionals' education and training. The theme of the celebrations is ‘Celebrating a Century of Excellence, Visualising the Future'.

Formal medical education started in 1924 with the establishment of the medical school on Mulago Hill where the Mulago National Referral Hospital is located, across from the main Makerere University campus that had opened in 1922. The medical school at Makerere has been the model for expanding health professions’ training in the region and is a hub for research and innovation, particularly after the collapse of the original East African community in the 1970s.

As one of the activities to celebrate the achievement, the College has organised a Public Dialogue themed 'The current state and future of Health Professions' training in Uganda'. This is therefore to invite you to this public dialogue and to also give your views on one of the most important issues facing the nation, panellists will include professional regulators, line ministries, healthcare providers, consumers and students.

Attendance will be both physical and virtual;  for virtual attendance register using this link: https://shorturl.at/vQAd6
