About the Speaker

Dr. Zhao has extensive experience in the fields of nutrition (micronutrients malnutrition), infectious diseases (HIV, TB, malaria, SARS, Avian Flu, COVID-19), and chronic diseases (cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, and stroke) in a range of organizations, from a provincial public health institute in China to the U.S. CDC, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Global Fund over the past 36 years.

Dr. Zhao was trained as a physician, with an MSc in epidemiology and biostatistics and a PhD in epidemiology. He is a professor of epidemiology at Nanjing Medical University since 2000 and an adjunct professor of global health at Duke Kunshan University since 2022. He teaches epidemiology at the University of Geneva and supervises master's and PhD students majoring in epidemiology and global health at Nanjing Medical University, Wageningen University, UCLA, Duke, and Oxford. He published more than 260 articles in peer-reviewed journals in Chinese and English.
