Biographies
Prof Benjamin Rosman
Benjamin Rosman is a Professor in the School of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, where he runs the Robotics, Autonomous Intelligence and Learning (RAIL) Laboratory and is the Director of the National E-Science Postgraduate Teaching and Training Platform (NEPTTP). He is a founder and organiser of the Deep Learning Indaba machine learning summer school, with a focus on strengthening African machine learning. His research interests focus primarily on reinforcement learning and decision-making in autonomous systems.
Prof. Susan Bondy
Susan Bondy is an Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She is also the Program Director for the MPH in Epidemiology. Her research includes monitoring of alcohol and tobacco use, public opinions on tobacco control policies; psychoactive substance use and associated health problems, and health services research, particularly in the areas of mental health and addiction, as well as cancer detection and treatment. She has experience training graduate students and public health professionals in the analysis and use of survey methods and data in population health.
Dr. Cavens Kithinji
Cavens provides coordination support to the CARTA Program at APHRC. He is the liaison person in the iCARTA project working to institutionalize CARTA interventions in postgraduate training among its partners. Cavens has vast experience in education and administration and is a project and management specialist with a research interest in project strategy and evaluation Cavens has a research interest in projects.
