Starting Monday 3rd May, Makerere University's AirQo Project, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Kampala Climate Change Action, Ministry of Works and Transport, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD), Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), and Mapping for Change (MfC) in collaboration with the U.S. Mission Uganda join the rest of the world to commemorate the Air Quality Awareness Week 2021.
Theme: 'Healthy air-Important for everyone'
Kampala has over 100 air quality monitors installed to bridge the data gap, making it the most monitored city in Sub-Saharan Africa. The information collected from these monitors is then analysed to predict the level of pollution in the air and inform mitigation actions.
