The Department of Biochemistry, College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) will host a guest speaker, Dr. Daudi Jingo from the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS) on Thursday 30th January, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00pm.
Topic: Artificial Intelligence at the Science Interface
Abstract:
Bioinformatics has in several ways transformed the ways in which biomedical research is conducted, largely by migrating several aspects of research and experimental components into computational space. This phenomenon is currently being intensified by the advent of similar but separate techniques of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into Biomedical research. This trend has been occasioned by the increasing existence and availability of big data sets amenable to new pattern discoveries leading to novel insights. This talk will briefly review what Artificial Intelligence is before delving into its various applications in Biomedical research and clinical practice
