Symposium on Militarization of Uganda's Public Sector

This Symposium seeks to provide a platform that brings together academia, practitioners in the social sciences, policy makers, politicians, NGOs, professional bodies, students and interested members of the public to discuss the aspect of increasing militarisation in Uganda and the effect that this is having on the country’s governance and development (or the lack thereof). In particular, the following issues will be interrogated:
•    Most prominent examples of militarization in Uganda;
•    Factors influence growing militarization in Uganda;
•    How these militarisation deployments relate to the country’s governance and rule of law;
•    Implications for achieving independent and accountable public institutions and for sustainable peace in Uganda?
The symposium will take place in the Lower Lecture Theatre, School of Law, Makerere University and the main presenter is Dr. Busingye Kabumba, a Lecturer at the School of Law and an eminent public intellectual. Top level government and security personnel as well as members of the academia will respond to Dr. Busingye’s presentation.
