SSRC Next Generation of Social Scientists Workshop

Makerere University will host the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), Next Generation of Social Scientists workshop for the first time since 2011. The Next Gen program of the SSRC is a Carnegie funded Doctoral Training program, offering scholarships to PhD fellows at different tracks of their studies from 6 African countries ie Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa.

This year's cohort of 49 will also include students from Ethiopia and Eritrea, who qualified through MISR. The thematic areas are Peace, Security and Development Studies.

The workshop will be officially opened by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe on Tuesday, 10th July 2018.

As a precursor to the workshop, the SSRC team will interface with Makerere University PhD students from all disciplines to deliberate on how they can win grants for their research.
