Invitation to public seminar on Hunger and Food Security in Uganda

The Uganda Sociological and Anthropological Association (USAA) has organized a public seminar on food security in Uganda to be held tomorrow, 1st June, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Makerere University Main Hall. The theme of the event is, Hunger and Food Security in Uganda from a Sociological and Anthropological Perspective: Are we missing a point?” USAA is a legally registered organisation in Uganda housed in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, School of Social Sciences, Makerere University and affiliated to the International Sociological Association (ISA). The purpose of the public seminar is to make a contribution towards generating and sharing emerging knowledge on the state of Hunger and Food Security in Uganda. Though organised from the Sociological and Anthropological perspective, the seminar will provide a platform for a multidisciplinary and professional debate by  researchers, academicians/scholars, policy actors and students.   The seminar discussion will focus on the theme with highly informative expert input composed of;a)Opening remarks that will underscore the purpose of the seminar in the context of the theme and the vision of USAA b) A keynote paper to bring out sociological and anthropological perspectives on the challenge of hunger and food security in Ugandac)And a panel discussion of experts from the academia, Government institutions, NGOs and Civil Society practitioners The presentations will be used to develop a policy brief that summarises issues of relevance for further policy action and stakeholders’ engagement.
