Theme: Utilizing Emerging Educational Technologies to Leapfrog Distance Learning

Makerere University in collaboration with the University of Agder, Norway, is implementing a NORAD supported project for Leapfrogging Makerere
University's 1st Generation Distance Education into 4th and 5th Generation
Distance Education. Fourth and Fifth Generation Distance Education uses
intelligent flexible learning models which employ interactive multimedia
(IMM) online; e.g., social networks, Internet-based access to WWW resources,
online learning, e-learning, computer-mediated communications using
automated response systems and campus portal access to institutional
processes and resources.

The project is now in its third year running and one of the planned
activities is holding an annual research workshop. The research workshop is
intended to disseminate research findings on the project and also share
state of the art  and practice in ODeL. This year's theme will be "Utilizing
Emerging Educational Technologies to Leapfrog Distance Learning" and
exceptional papers will be transformed into book chapters and included in
our forthcoming book titled  "Utilizing Emerging Educational Technologies to
Leapfrog Distance Learning".

The Workshop will take place at Makerere University on May 02, 2016. We are
now calling for Abstracts from researchers interested in ODeL. The call is
