On Friday, 31 July 2026, the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) hosts the Uganda EPSILONs Mini Launch, bringing together the country's three Epidemic and Pandemic Sciences Innovation and Leadership Networks (EPSILONs) for the first time.

The event unites:

• ACCEPT-Africa (Advancing Capacity for Early Phase Trials for Pandemics and Epidemics in Africa) — led by Dr Christine Sekaggya Wiltshire, IDI
• SHARPER (Strengthening Health Systems Capacity in Africa for Pandemic Equity and Responsiveness) — co-led by Dr Mulumba Moses, Afya na Haki
• PREPARE (Prevention and Response to Emerging Viruses with Pandemic Potential in Africa) — co-led by Dr Barnabas Bakamatumaho, Uganda Virus Research Institute

Together, these networks will showcase their complementary strengths, share strategic priorities, and strengthen cross-institutional collaboration on epidemic and pandemic preparedness in Uganda.

The event will feature representatives from the Ministry of Health, academia, development partners, and stakeholders, including participants from the Science for Africa Foundation and the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative, who will participate both in person and virtually.

This is where Uganda's pandemic preparedness ecosystem takes shape.
