The Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences invites you to participate in the upcoming photographic exhibition, Connecting Cultures: The Italian Ethnological Mission in the Great Lakes Region, curated by Makerere University in collaboration with the University of Turin (Italy) and supported by the Italian Embassy in Kampala.

Since 1979, the Italian Ethnological Mission in Equatorial Africa, affiliated with the University of Turin, has conducted extensive ethnological research in the Great Lakes Region, including Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania. This exhibition presents a visual journey through four decades of research, illustrating the region’s rich cultural interconnections, enduring legacies, and ongoing collaborations.
The exhibition aims to:
- Share and disseminate the Mission’s forefront research in the Great Lakes Region.
- Strengthen and celebrate the long-standing partnership between Italy and Uganda in education and research.
- Showcase the deep cultural ties and regional integration among the diverse communities in the Great Lakes Region.
