The Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) cordially invites you to a deeply moving and inspirational event – the book launch of “My Journey with Rectal Cancer: From Diagnosis to Recovery” by Dr. Geofrey Musinguzi.
Date and Time: Friday 16th August, 2024 at 2:00 PM
About the Author
In 2022, Dr. Geofrey Musinguzi, a dedicated Medical Researcher at MakSPH in Uganda and the University of Antwerp in Belgium, was diagnosed with rectal cancer at the age of 44. He sought medical attention after experiencing mild rectal bleeding, back pain, and changes in bowel movements, revealing a not-so-easy journey ahead.
Dr. Musinguzi's path to recovery included numerous medical procedures: CT scans, endoscopies, colonoscopies, MRIs, X-rays, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and living with a colostomy/ileostomy bag for a year. Despite facing life-threatening challenges, he overcame them all through resilience, prayer, and the support of many.
As a service to humanity, Dr. Musinguzi has documented his journey to offer encouragement and inspiration to those facing similar battles and to fight against the stigma surrounding cancer. His book stands as a testament to the fact that cancer is treatable and curable, especially when detected early.
We invite you to join us for this special occasion to celebrate Dr. Musinguzi's strength and courage. This is a free event and open to the public. Stay tuned for additional information.
We look forward to your presence.
