As part of as part of celebrations to mark Makerere University's 100 years of impactful existence, the School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences is spearheading the occasion of gowning ceremony and public lecture by Dr. Seth Franklin Berkley-the CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and a global advocate of the power of vaccines.

Dr. Seth Franklin Berkley received Makerere University's prestigious Honorary Doctorate of Science (Honoris Causa) during the 71st Graduation Ceremony in May, 2021 where he attended virtually.
The founder and former president and CEO of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative is honored for his tremendous contribution to the staff capacity building in training and research, and student training at the Makerere University School of Public Health. He was instrumental in starting the Public Health Schools Without Walls to create a cadre of Public Health workers who are trained from the community. The first three programs in Africa were established in Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Uganda.
