The Department of Philosophy, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) has organised celebrations to mark the World Philosophy Day at Makerere University.

Theme: "The Ethics of the Human of the Future".

Date and Time: Thursday 16th November 2023 starting at 9:00 AM EAT.

The celebrations will provide a concentrated and impactful exploration of the ethical
challenges posed by advancements in science technology.

Keynote address: Dr. Giregon Olupot, Makerere University - Advances in Science and Technology, and ethics compliance: Managing the promises and perils of genetic engineering in Uganda.

Paper presentations:

  • Dr. Ferdinand Mutaawe Kasozi & Rev. Fr. Akena - Artificial Intelligence, Human values and the human of the future.
  • Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo - Social Media transforming human relations.
